Fashion and environment: the Fashion Pact

A big step for fashion and the environment. The Fashion Pact is finally born for a sustainable fashion and environmental protection.

Strongly wanted by Emmanuel Macron, 32 world-leading fashion companies have signed the Fashion Pact to achieve scientific objectives based on the Science Based Target initiative. The fashion industry is one of the largest, most dynamic and influential in the world and this is why it has a duty to play a primary role in protecting the environment and animal species.

The great fashion managers and the great international giants have signed this pact sanctioned in the G7 of these days with three major objectives:
  • the halt of global warming with the elimination of greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and the maintenance of the heating temperature below 1.5 degrees;
  • restore biodiversity to protect species and natural ecosystems;
  • protect the oceans, drastically reducing the use of disposable plastic.

    The Fashion Pact includes a series of initiatives that the corporate groups can undertake at an individual or collective level. Great attention has been given to the procurement of raw materials, with a focus on cultivation and breeding methods. The priority is to protect the species and develop certification schemes for raw materials for the traceability of materials, enhancing animal welfare.
